What You Can Catch + Seasons

Spring (April, May, and June)
Spring fishing primarily focuses on Coho Salmon, with Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, and occasional King Salmon also possible.

Summer (July and August)
During summer, the fishing transitions from Coho Salmon toward Lake Trout and King Salmon. King Salmon usually arrive in mid-July and continue through September, bringing the chance for larger fish and occasional trophy Kings in the upper 20-pound range.

Fall (September and October)
In early September, Tailboard Charters focuses on returning mature King Salmon as they move into the area to spawn. Lake Trout and Rainbow Trout are also commonly caught during this time.

Fishing on Lake Michigan changes throughout the season, and each part of the year brings different opportunities for salmon and trout.
