The Story Behind Tailboard Charters
Tailboard Charters was built around a simple passion: helping people enjoy Lake Michigan fishing and the memories that come with it. Captain Jeb Kaiser has been charter fishing since 1985 and still brings the same excitement to each trip, whether the group is made up of experienced anglers or first-time fishermen.
For Jeb, the trip is about more than catching fish. It is about seeing customers enjoy their time on the Tailboard, building lasting traditions, and creating an experience worth coming back for. Many of his customers have been fishing with him for more than 25 years, and some families are now bringing their third generation aboard.

Meet Captain Jeb Kaiser
Captain Jeb Kaiser has been charter fishing on Lake Michigan since 1985 and purchased the Tailboard in 2001. With nearly 40 years of professional charter fishing experience, Jeb understands the lake, the seasons, the fish, and what it takes to create a safe and enjoyable trip for every group.
Jeb recently retired as a Lieutenant/Paramedic after 25 years with the Palatine Fire Department. He holds a USCG 6-pack license and continues to maintain his paramedic license, along with numerous other certifications. That background helps shape the way Tailboard Charters operates: prepared, safety-focused, and committed to giving customers a dependable experience on the water.

Our Boat
MEET THE 35′ ALURA
The Tailboard is a 35′ Alura with plenty of room for groups of up to 6 passengers. The boat has a hard top for cover from the sun and weather, a stand-up bathroom, and an area below deck where customers can store belongings during the trip.
The boat has also been upgraded with modern electronics and radar to help in foggy conditions. From safety equipment to comfort features, the Tailboard is set up to give your group a reliable and enjoyable experience on Lake Michigan.
